DIRECTIONS

The BEST WESTERN PLUS Sands Hotel is on the corner of Davie St & Denman St in Vancouver. Just steps from the beach and Pacific Ocean at English Bay and a short stroll to world-famous Stanley Park. The Hotel is located in the vibrant West End neighbourhood of Vancouver. The Best Western Plus Sands Hotel is close to the Cruise Ship Terminal at Canada Place, Downtown, Shopping, Restaurants and Granville Island. We are also front and centre for the annual Celebration of Light Fireworks Festival in English Bay and the Vancouver Pride Parade.

Driving Instructions

From Vancouver International Airport (YVR):

25 mins (9 miles/15 kms)

  • When leaving the Airport, stay in the 2 Left lanes and follow the signs for "Vancouver"

  • As you leave the Airport you begin to cross the Arthur Laing Bridge

  • On the Bridge watch near the end for sign “Granville Street – City Centre”, Exit Right

  • Follow Granville Street for (5 miles/8 kms) and cross the Granville Street Bridge into Downtown

  • Turn Left on Davie Street, which is the 2nd street after the Bridge

  • Drive 10 blocks to 1755 Davie St and you will see the entrance to the Sands on your Right

From USA Border Crossing "Peace Arch": 1 hour (37 miles/58 kms)

From Whistler: 1 hr 30 mins (75 miles/124 kms)

  • Take Highway 99 “Sea to Sky Hwy” south

  • Highway 99 merges into Hwy 1 “Trans Canada Hwy”

  • Take Exit #13 (Right), watch for sign “Vancouver-Taylor Way South” , Turn Right

  • Follow Taylor Way down the hill, at the bottom turn Left onto Marine Drive

  • Merge to the Right and onto the Lions Gate Bridge, sign says “Vancouver 99-South”

  • Cross the Lions Gate Bridge, through Stanley Park and you will enter downtown on West Georgia St

  • The 1st Traffic Light is Denman Street, turn Right

  • Follow Denman St for 7 blocks to Davie St

  • Turn Left on Davie St and you will see the Sands right away on your Left

  • Take the I-5 Freeway to the Peace Arch Border Crossing

  • After crossing the border the I-5 becomes Highway 99

  • Follow Hwy 99 through the George Massey Tunnel then across the Oak Street Bridge

  • Follow Oak Street to 41st Ave and turn Left on 41st Ave

  • Drive 5 blocks to Granville Street, the next Traffic Light and turn Right

  • Follow Granville Street for (2.5 miles/4 kms) and cross the Granville Street Bridge into Downtown

  • Turn Left on Davie Street, which is the 2nd street after the bridge

  • Drive 10 blocks to 1755 Davie St and you will see the entrance to the Sands on your Right

From Horseshoe Bay (from Nanaimo): 21 mins (12 miles/20 kms)

  • Exit the Ferry, follow the road out, watch for the sign "Highway 1 East - Vancouver"

  • Drive up the hill and merge onto Highway 1 East - Vancouver (5-7 mins)

  • Take Exit #13 (Right), watch for sign “Vancouver-Taylor Way South” , Turn Right

  • Follow Taylor Way down the hill, at the bottom turn Left onto Marine Drive

  • Merge to the Right and onto the Lions Gate Bridge, sign says “Vancouver 99-South”

  • Cross the Lions Gate Bridge, through Stanley Park and you will enter downtown on West Georgia St

  • The 1st Traffic Light is Denman Street, turn Right

  • Follow Denman St for 7 blocks to Davie St

  • Turn Left on Davie St and you will see the Sands right away on your Left

From Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal (from Victoria): 45 mins (24 miles/38 kms)

  • Exit the Ferry and follow the main road, Highway 17

  • At the junction of Highway 99 (9 miles) watch for sign "Highway 99 - Vancouver", Exit Right

  • Follow Hwy 99 through the George Massey Tunnel then across the Oak Street Bridge

  • Follow Oak Street to 41st Ave, turn Left on 41st Ave

  • Drive 5 blocks to Granville Street, the next Traffic Light and turn Right

From Highway 1 - Port Mann Bridge: 35 mins (18 miles/29 kms)

  • Take Highway 1 - Westbound drive over the Port Mann Bridge (toll)

  • Take Exit #27 for "1st Ave"

  • Turn Left onto 1st Ave

  • Follow 1st Ave for 3.5 miles/5 kms to Quebec St

  • Turn Right on Quebec St. and stay in the Left lanes which will turn into Expo Blvd

  • Follow Expo Blvd past the 2 Stadiums and turn Right on Davie St.

  • Davie St is the 4th Traffic Light past the Stadium

  • Drive for 1.5 miles/2.5 kms to 1755 Davie St and you will see the entrance to the Sands on your Right
